Module 1 - Intro & Programming A Drum Beat

After a brief intro you'll get right into making a beat for your electro track. This is super important as it will provide the foundation for your track to be built upon. You'll be selecting a kick, snare and hats and programming a basic beat whilst getting familiar with the basic functions of Cubase.

This first couple of intro videos serves as a way to get you familiar with the project window, the sampler track, finding and importing samples in the Media tab, MIDI and a whole load more things before we step it up a gear and start getting more advanced

Module 2 - How To Create A Wonky Electro Vibe

Making an Electro track like this with so many moving parts can seem like a daunting task. Here you will learn how to break it down and start simply each time with the very same method that Jon uses to make his own tracks. Each time you start simply and repeat with changes, gradually adding complexity as you go. This is a fully repeatable process that you can learn and apply to your own tracks every time. In this module you will also learn to use a variety of methods like samples, Retrologue and even Halions Flux wavetable synthesizers to make a Skrillex type wonky bass sound.

Module 3 - Vocals & FX Processing

Although basic; the vocal in this track could be made by you easily. Jon will teach you how to record a basic vocal in Cubase and then use many different processing techniques like, comping, pitch shifting, time stretching, formant shifting and editing to make it sound good.

There are also many, many different FX used in this course; 3 different types of delay, reverb, phasing, chorus, saturation, distortion, compression, multiband compression and many more. You will learn each of these to be able to use them to best effect in your own tracks.

Module 4 - Arrangement & Tension and

Release

At the end of the day, this is a track made for the dance floor. As well as being fun and interesting to listen to you need to have energy that makes people want to get up and dance. Whilst the production, of course has something to do with it, it is also massively down to having an arrangement that does not get boring and about managing to create the tension in the breakdowns and build ups and then the big release in the drop to get the dance floor moving. In this module you will learn how to structure your track and have the right changes that keep it interesting and also you will understand how to create tension and release in your tracks.

Module 5 - SFX & Advanced Editing

There is a second stage to creating a wonky electro vibe that is as important as the first step (Module 2). It requires some advanced editing techniques and some trial and error on your part, but the results can not only sound really cool but also provide your tracks with a really unique and great vibe. After completing this module you will have the understanding of exactly how to do this in your own tracks. We will also concentrate on the different types of SFX sounds and use them to embellish the tension and release and the general movement of the track, helping it stay fluid and interesting. You'll also make a white noise riser from scratch in Retrologue.

Module 6 - Mixing Your Electro House Track

Mixing/Mastering is the last vital step where we take all the elements we have created and balance them against each other, making sure they have their own space so your mix stays clean and does not get messy. There are many techniques that are employed to nudge the mix in the right direction and you will be learning how to do this with Cubase stock plugins like saturation, distortion, EQ, compression, reverb, delay and many more things.
