Colin will also show you about the basic components of an EDM track to make sure you have a good idea of what you are trying to accomplish when you start making your own EDM bangers!
Module 2 - Creating a Killer Drum Section
Here you will learn how to program an energetic and complete drum section for your EDM track. FL Studio makes this process really simple and Colin takes this opportunity to show you how to legally sample other peoples records to get some awesome extra drum sounds to use in your own productions. As well as learning how to make a drum loop you will learn all the basic functions of FL Studio.
Module 3 - Adding Instruments and Creating EDM Melodies
Samples will only take you so far in your productions and it is vital that you are able to use the built in instruments to create interesting and diverse sounds. Here you will learn how to load instruments and how to make your own sounds with them. You will also learn some basic music theory that will allow you to make your own awesome EDM melodies.
Module 4 - Arrangement / Track Structure
Ahh, the one place most people go wrong or need help with the most! The structure of the track!
Here Colin shows you how to create a dynamic, exciting and interesting arrangement for your EDM banger. Using a load of different techniques and spicing up your arrangements with SFX sounds will become second nature by the time you are done. You will also learn to make a DJ friendly intro/outro for your track.
Module 5 - Mixing & Mastering
No-one is going to want to listen to your track if it's not balanced and sounding clear.
Colin teaches you many techniques here to achieve this, such as correctly applying EQ, compression, panning and reverb. As the secret to mixing is all about balance you will learn to do this on many levels. Automating your mix is vital aswell to keep the interest of the listener engaged and to finish with a more pro sounding mix.
Module 6 - Getting Your Track Heard
So you have made your track and you want to share it with the world. How do you go about this? Well, here Colin will show you how to export your track and then he talks about the many avenues you have for getting it heard. It's great making killer tracks that make the dance floor shake but it's much better when they are shared with the world to hear!
