Course Overview

Lesson 1 - Overview

In Lesson1, your tutor Mike takes you through the basic signal flow of Retrologue; knowing this will help you understand most synths on the market. Oscillators > Filter > Amplitude > Effects > Modulation Matrix. Next you'll learn about the 4 different oscillator types and 4 different waveforms along with important modifiers such as detune and shape. Following this is the sub and noise generators. Mike then puts his teaching into practice and shows you exactly how to make your own bass sound, anthemic pad and trance pluck lead, completely from scratch.

Lesson 2 - Bass

Mike shows you how to create a fat bass sound by detuning 2 oscillators and assigning the modulation wheel to affect the cut off frequency and resonance.

Lesson 3 - Anthemic Pad

Did you know you can create your own huge trance type pad in about 2 minutes? Mike shows you how to use 'mutli' mode with 8 voices to create a thick sound and how to keep it interesting by assigning the mod wheel to the cutoff frequency, along with an LFO modulating the panning

Lesson 4 - White Noise Riser

In lesson 4, Mike teaches you how to make a white noise riser effect which is popular in most forms of electronic music. Using only the noise generator, he automates the cutoff filter to give an interesting effect along with using an LFO to create width and also further affect the filter.

Lesson 5 - R2D2 LFO FX

Here Mike creates a crazy R2D2 type effect which could be used in psytrance. He uses all 5 slots in the matrix modifier and really goes to town to show off more of Retrologue's features
