Module 1 - Chorus

Chorus is one of those effects that is often overlooked and little used, but it is one of the most powerful mixing tools (up there with reverb). In this set of videos you will learn how, why and when to apply it to add texture to sounds, add thickness to vocals and movement to anything. Eddie takes his time to explain it all from the ground up so you fully understand how the effect works so you can apply it to your own tracks and get the most benefit from this awesome effect.

Module 2 - Delay

Delay is traditionally used to add a sense of space to elements in your mix and of course that is covered here as well. However, it can also be used in many other ways, even to change the texture of drum beats and add thickness to any sound you want. It can also be used to enhance the stereo field of recordings. Eddie will take you from the basics of using delay in the traditional sense all the way through to more advanced uses that will allow you to be incredibly creative in your own productions.

Module 3 - Flangers

The flanger is another one of those often overlooked effects that has great potential as a mixing aid when used correctly. Flanging can be used creatively as well, enabling you to create movement and interest where before there was none. Eddie shows you how to understand the fundamentals of the effect and shows you how to use it to create movement, thickness and stereo width in your own tracks; adding a dimension to your mixes that not many people really understand how to do.

Module 4 - Harmonics & Distortion

Harmonics can cover quite a few areas in music production. Here Eddie helps you understand harmonics in a way that will be beneficial to your productions. Understanding and using a blend of odd & even harmonics can thicken up sounds and add different textures to your mixes. Saturation is known to give you 'musical' distortion by adding even order harmonics which is also covered in this module along with how valves/tubes work to add pleasing and useful distortion to your mix.

Module 5 - Phasers

Phasers can be used to add movement and different textures to the elements of your mix. Eddie shows you the various uses of the phaser and helps you understand how it works so you have complete control over the effect. By the end of this module you will understand what all the different dials and settings mean on a phaser plug in so that you can use it creatively in your own mixes for maximum effect, adding movement and fuller textures where ever you want.

Module 6 - Reverb

Reverb is one of the most vital effects to understand in order to get your mixes sounding lush and 'real'. This module alone has 17 videos dedicated to teaching you all about reverb. From the basic fundamentals right through to the advanced are of 'layering reverbs', it's all here in this module. You will learn how to treat vocals with reverb, how to use 'wrapping reverbs', how to treat drums with reverb, how to control the sibilance of reverb, de-essing, plus a load more nifty tricks including creating the famous 'Abby Road Reverb'

Creative Effects Ebook - The perfect accompaniment to the video series

This Ebook offers over 200 pages of production secrets that will help both beginners and more experienced producers and sound designers alike, accompanied by a massive 600 megabytes of before/after audio examples!

Each chapter is devoted to a specific effect, while the final chapter delves into the world of more extreme and creative effects, using several in series or parallel to create completely new sonic textures, from warped vocoded effects to autotuned rhythmic sequences, from pitch manipulated delays to aesthetic sweeping pads, from dark dropping cannons to ghostly whispers. It’s all here and much, much more.

This book is obviously a labour of love, and goes much further than simply explaining the functions of every control, exploring their various further creative possibilities. For instance, Reverbs are great but room ambience recordings using a microphone or adopting Impulse Responses are equally useful but far more interesting. Tape saturation is extremely useful, as is tube/valve, but have you ever wondered how they work, what the harmonics affected are? Have you ever wondered how an Autotuned female vocal line run through a vocoder and layered with filter modulation sounds like? This type of effect is what this book is all about.
