23 Lessons - 4 hours

Module 1 - Building The Foundation

After a brief intro, your tutor Demis will help you set up the foundation of the track. You'll bring in the main sounds, MIDI, bass and percussion and use EQ to balance these to sit professionally. You'll learn throughout this course that a lot of tiny changes can make a huge difference to the quality of the final mix.

Module 2 - Low End Processing

The low end of an electronic track is paramount as it delivers most of the energy. Get this wrong and your track will fail - simple. Luckily, Demis is a master at processing and mixing the kick and bass, and he will show you every step required to achieve a professional low end. Follow along yourself to cement these essential skills, so you can use them like clockwork in your own productions.

Module 3 - Pads & Melodies

In this 3rd Module, you'll learn how and when to use pads, leads and counter synths to create the melodic part of your track. You'll learn imperative skills such as avoiding anti-phasing when widening a sound, and how to locate and tame problem frequencies during this process. Amateurs will simply be unaware of these problems and their mix will suffer accordingly. Your mix will be better.

Module 4 - Song Structure

In this very important module you'll learn how to create a sense of tension and release that will make your track sound emotive. Mellow in some sections and energetic in others.

This will keep your listener engaged for the duration. You'll also learn how to use transition effects in the next module, to help tie the different sections together.

Module 5 - Adding FX - Using Automation

You now have the basis of a banging track but....we need to add sound effects or it will sound dull, uninteresting and lifeless.

Demis will teach you what sounds typically work well here, and how to alter parameters such as filter opening using automation. Demis imparts his extensive knowledge on the use of EQ and compression, along with several tips and tricks on reverb and saturation.  

Module 6 - Mixing & Mastering

Although we've been mixing as we go, the track still requires a final check and tweak. Demis teaches you how to balance stems correctly using a combination of your ears and meters, along with endless other tips he has picked up over the years. EQ, compression, saturation are just a handful of tools used but with Demis's guidance, you will importantly learn how to use these correctly.
