Module 1 - Course Intro

After a short intro from your tutor Jay, we look at all 3 main pages of this VST and discuss what each and every section does and how it fits into the signal flow.

You'll learn how Retrologue 2 is laid out and how each module fits with one another.

This lesson is great for people who have either never used this synth before or have loaded it up but don't really understand it. Or even as a refresher for those who have not used it for a while.

Module 2 - Synth Page, Arp Page, FX Page

This module goes over the same sections and pages but this time in great detail. For example you'll learn about all the different types of waveform and wave types and how to manipulate them, different phases, noise generators to add sparkle and 'air', ring modulators to add grit, filters, envelopes, and that's just the Synth page! Of course we cover in detail the Arp page along with all it's many options and functions, finishing up with the highly customizable FX page.

Module 3 - Modulation Magic

The modulation section and the 'Modulation Matrix' in Retrologue are incredibly powerful and is where you can really start to bring your patches to life. Using this highly programmable section you can create big booming sub basses, sparkling and evolving pads, screeching leads, dirty reece basses and much, much more. By the end of this tutorial you'll have a firm grasp of how to utilize this to make your own unique and highly useable patches, or even to customize the presets to fit better in your own productions

Module 4 - Make An 8 Part Loop

In this bundle of lessons you can follow along and make an 8 part loop using Retrologue only. For example, we teach you how to make a kick drum, clap, hi hat, sub bass, dirty bass, pad, arpeggiator and white noise riser FX.

It's quite something to see that nasty saw wave 'init' patch being transformed each time into the different parts above! In the process you'll learn how to utilize each section of Retrologue 2.

Module 5 - Example Patches

In this lesson Jay takes you through in detail some of his presets he made in the new BTP1 Retrologue 2 Preset Bank (also available on our website). Here you will learn exactly how he made these sounds such as the hard, raw sounding leads, the dreamy lead with delayed vibrato and glide, the tropical keys with evolving timbre and velocity sensitive nature - all the while learning how to program the mod wheel to bring in extra dimension such as a 7th, reverb or vibrato.

Module 6 - Sidechain Input

Did you know that Retrologue 2 has a sidechain input? What's it there for?

Don't worry. In this lesson you'll learn how to set this up and get it working (it's not obvious!) and learn the benefits of sending another signal to it. Utilize the filter envelope or modulation matrix or of course the arp and FX pages if you wish on your externally routed audio. We look at different things that can be achieved with this often overlooked feature.
